This village at the northern end of the island is set around a wide, sheltered bay, much loved by sailing boats. The waterfront is ideal for a walk and a seaside break.
A small fishing village on the eastern coast, retains a peaceful atmosphere and a little harbor surrounded by traditional houses. It is a lovely place for dinner by the sea or to head out and discover the nearby coves.
Tripitos Arch
This spectacular natural rock arch extends over the sea in the southern part of Paxi. It can be admired from the coast or during a boat trip, when the light brings out the shapes of the cliff.
Erimitis Beach
Overlooking the western coast, Erimitis is a pebble cove tucked beneath high pale cliffs. At sunset, it offers striking views over the Ionian Sea.
Voutoumi Beach,
On the nearby islet of , Voutoumi is famous for its crystal-clear waters in turquoise shades and its white pebble beach. It is reached by boat from Paxi, often on excursions that include the sea caves.

How to get around
The main port is in , reachable by ferry from Corfu and from some ports on the Greek mainland. On the island, getting around is easiest by car, scooter, or taxi, but the roads are narrow and parking can be difficult in high season. Local buses connect some settlements, but services are limited: it’s best to check timetables in advance. To reach coves and beaches, or to visit Antipaxos, taxi boats and boat tours are convenient. If you rent a boat, make sure to check the sea conditions and navigation rules.
When to go
From May to October, the climate is generally suitable for outdoor activities and swimming; June and September often offer a good balance between pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. July and August are the hottest and busiest months, with higher demand for accommodation, ferries, and boats: booking ahead is recommended. In spring and autumn, some services may run on reduced schedules.
Where to eat
The tavernas of , , and serve fish and seafood, as well as Greek dishes such as salads, seasonal vegetables, and grilled specialties. For a dinner on the harbor, especially in summer, it’s advisable to book ahead or arrive early.
