Guide to Paxi
PAXI · ITINERARY

Paxi (Corfu, Ionian Islands, Greece) in 3 days – Complete itinerary

3 days / 2 nights · Village, sea, beaches, views

The itinerary runs from south to north, with one day devoted to Gaios and the Tripitos Arch, a second to the beaches of Antipaxos, and a third to the villages and the northern and western coast of Paxi. The trip to Antipaxos depends on sea conditions and ferry connections: it’s worth checking them in advance and keeping a bit of flexibility. For the mainland stops, a rented car or scooter cuts down travel time, while for bays and beaches it’s useful to have shoes suitable for trails and pebbles. The time slots are a suggested schedule, not official opening hours.

Stops on the map

  1. 3.2 km · 38 min

Day 1 – Gaios and the southern coast

10:00–20:00 Easy walks and a short transfer

Discover the center of Gaios and reach the scenic natural arch on the southern coast.

10:00

Gaios and its waterfront

Spend about two hours at the harbor, through the streets of the center and along the waterfront, watching the moored boats and the islet of Agios Nikolaos that shelters the bay. You can take a break in a café or a taverna: budget roughly €3–6 for a drink and €12–25 for a meal, per person. For any visits to buildings or attractions, check the information and tickets in advance on their official websites.

The harbor is also the main reference point for finding out about the next day’s boat excursions.

15:30

Tripitos Arch

Reach the area by car or scooter from Gaios in about 15–20 minutes, then continue on foot along the trail: allow at least 30–45 minutes for the approach and the scenic stop. The natural arch overlooks the sea and is especially striking, but the terrain can be uneven and the crossing should be tackled with caution. The trail usually does not require an entry ticket; instead, plan for the cost of the vehicle and fuel, roughly €5–15 in total for the trip.

Wear shoes with good grip and do not approach exposed edges.

Day 2 – The beaches of Antipaxi

09:00–17:30 A seaside day with boat transfers

Exploring Antipaxi’s two best-known beaches, leaving time to swim and move around without rushing.

09:00

Antipaxi: Voutoumi Beach

Reach Antipaxi by boat from Gaios: duration and cost depend on the service chosen and sea conditions; as a rough guide, expect about €15–35 per person for a connection or a day excursion. At Voutoumi you can swim in the clear water and alternate the beach with a scenic stop, bringing water and sunscreen with you. Check the operator’s official website for schedules, boarding points, fares, and any cancellation conditions.

Boats and connections may change with the weather; agree in advance on the return point and time.

13:00

Antipaxi: Vrika Beach

Continue to Vrika with the available connection or, if the route conditions allow it, with a short walk from the Voutoumi area: check the distance and feasibility on site. Set aside about two hours for swimming and resting, bearing in mind that the seabed may be pebbly and that in high season it is worth arranging lunch in advance. For a simple meal, budget roughly €12–25 per person; still bring water and a snack in case services are unavailable or crowded.

Do not leave litter on the beach and check with the operator the last useful boat back to Paxi.

Day 3 – Northern villages and the western coast

10:00–20:30 Short visits, beach stops, and a scenic walk

Get to know the northern harbors, make a stop by the sea, and end the day with sunset on the coast.

10:00

The village of Loggos

Reach Loggos from Gaios in about 20–25 minutes by car or scooter and wander among the harbor, the houses, and the village lanes. Allow a little over an hour for a relaxed visit and a coffee break, roughly €3–6 per person. The roads can be narrow: if you arrive by vehicle, use the permitted parking spaces and finish the visit on foot.

Bring cash for small purchases, and do not assume electronic payment will be available.

11:45

Lakka Bay

From Loggos continue to Lakka in about 15–20 minutes, then explore the harbor and the outline of the bay on foot. The sheltered shape of the cove and the boats at anchor are the highlight of the stop; plan on about an hour and a half, including a light lunch for €12–25 per person. If you want to go on a boat trip, ask locally or with an operator and check fares and availability through official channels.

Check the driving directions in advance: the island’s inland roads can be narrow and winding.

14:30

Monadendri Beach

Reach the beach in about 10–15 minutes from Lakka and set aside a couple of hours for swimming or relaxing. The shoreline is pebbly: water shoes and a thick towel will make your stop more comfortable. Beach access is generally free; allow roughly €5–15 for any equipment rental, to be checked on site.

Bring water and sunscreen, especially if you plan to stay at the beach during the hottest hours.

18:30

Sunset at the Erimitis Cliffs

From the Monadendri area, allow about 30–40 minutes by car or scooter to reach the cliff area, then continue on foot along the trail to a safe panoramic spot. Arrive early enough to find the path and watch the sunset while staying well away from the edge, which can be crumbly and exposed. Access to the landscape is usually free; allow €5–15 for fuel and the day’s transfers.

Check the local sunset time and return with a flashlight: the trail may be poorly lit.

Practical tips

  • Check marine weather and connections to Antipaxi in advance: sailings and routes may change depending on sea conditions.
  • For Tripitos and the cliffs of Erimitis, wear grippy shoes, bring water, and stay well away from exposed edges.
  • In summer, book accommodation and rental transport in advance; the island’s roads are narrow and driving times can be longer than distances suggest.
  • Bring cash, sunscreen, and a water bottle: facilities, shade, and payment methods may vary from one beach to another.
