Day 1 – From Gaios port to the bays of Paxi

10:00–20:30 Light sightseeing and seaside breaks

Explore Paxi’s main villages and end the day on the southern coast.

10:00

Gaios

Spend about an hour and a half in the harbor, wandering between the waterfront, the boats, and the little streets of the center. Stop for a coffee or a late breakfast, roughly €3–8, and consider lunch later in the day. For the next transfer, allow about 20–30 minutes by car or scooter to Loggos, depending on traffic and road conditions.

If you arrive by ferry, check in advance that it connects with the vehicle you’ve chosen to explore the island.

12:00

Loggos

Spend about an hour strolling around the small harbor and along the row of houses facing the water, taking in the boats and the village’s intimate atmosphere. You can stop for a drink or a snack, roughly €4–12. From Loggos to Lakka, the drive usually takes about 15–25 minutes, so plan with a buffer.

The island roads are narrow in places: drive carefully and allow time for parking.

13:45

Lakka

Spend about two hours at the natural harbor and in the center, alternating a walk along the waterfront with a lunch break at a taverna; a simple meal can cost roughly €15–30 per person, drinks excluded or included depending on your choice. After lunch, head south to Mongonissi: allow about 30–40 minutes on the road and only a short stop along the way if time permits.

If you want to swim, bring water, sunscreen, and a dry change of clothes.

17:00

Mongonissi Beach

Finish with two or three hours of relaxation in the bay, alternating swimming with a walk along the shore and moments of rest. Beach access is free; any drinks or services may vary, with an estimated spend of €5–15 for beverages or snacks. Leave time to return to Gaios, about 10–15 minutes away by road, and to arrange a taxi if you don’t have your own vehicle.

Check sea conditions and service availability on site; don’t assume evening connections are guaranteed.

Practical tips

  • Arrange rental or taxi in advance: don’t base your whole day on public transport without first checking timetables and seasonal availability.
  • Bring cash and a payment card: acceptance and service availability can vary from one place to another.
  • Wear comfortable shoes for the villages and bring a swimsuit, towel, water, and sunscreen for Mongonissi.
  • Check official channels or contact local operators directly for any updated fares, services, and information before you depart.
