The remains of this sanctuary from the 6th century BC are located on the Vouliagmeni promontory, within the Astir Palace area. The site preserves traces of an ancient cult dedicated to Apollo and other deities.
One of the most renowned beaches on the Athens Riviera, prized for its clear waters and well-kept facilities. Its position on the promontory also offers splendid views over the Saronic Gulf.
Kavouri's beaches alternate between sandy stretches and rocky outcrops, with inviting waters and a more relaxed atmosphere than the busier seaside resorts. Nearby coastal paths are perfect for a scenic walk.
This organized beach is a convenient choice for a day by the sea just a short distance from Athens. The shoreline offers space for swimming and relaxing, with cafés and facilities nearby.
Also known as Vari Cave or Pan's Cave, this is an archaeological site carved into the rock and linked to the worship of the nymphs and Pan. The carvings and votive remains bear witness to the cave's ritual use in antiquity.

Getting around
The tram connects Voula with the Athenian coast and the city center, but to reach Vari and many beaches it may be more convenient to use local buses or a taxi. Stops and schedules vary depending on the area: check the updated route before setting out. In summer, rental cars and scooters offer greater freedom, although traffic and parking can be challenging. To get around between the resorts, also consider the ride-hailing apps available in Athens.
When to go
From May to June and from September to October the weather is pleasant and the beaches are generally less crowded than in peak season. July and August are the hottest and liveliest months, ideal for the sea but with higher prices and more traffic. In spring and autumn, sunny days also make for walks along the coast; in winter the atmosphere is quieter and some beach services may be closed.
Where to eat
Along the Voula and Vouliagmeni waterfront you’ll find seafood restaurants, Greek tavernas and seaside spots, while in Vari grills and tavernas are common, also popular with locals. Try dishes such as grilled fish, meze, Greek salad and meat specialties. At the most popular seaside places it’s advisable to book, especially on summer evenings; to spend less, head for the inland streets and check whether fish is sold by weight.

- 02Before choosing a beach, check access, any entrance fee and the availability of sun loungers: conditions vary from one beach club to another.
