Day 1 – Nikiti and the beaches of the western coast

10:00–21:00 Easy walks and beach stops

Explore northwestern Sithonia, between the historic core of Nikiti, two beaches, and the lively harbor of Neos Marmaras.

10:00

Nikiti: old village and center

Start from the old hillside core, among traditional houses and narrow lanes, then head down to the modern seafront. Allow about 1 hour and 30 minutes; visiting the village is free, while a coffee usually costs €3–6.

Bring comfortable shoes for the uphill sections and check the church opening hours on site.

11:45

Agios Ioannis Beach

Reach the beach by car in about 10–15 minutes and enjoy a swim or a walk along the shore. Access to the free beach is free; sun loungers and an umbrella can cost roughly €15–30 per pair, depending on the season and the operator.

In high season, it’s best to arrive before noon to find parking.

13:30

Lunch in Nikiti

Head back toward the center or the seafront for a break of about an hour and a half. At a taverna, a simple lunch can cost around €15–25 per person; fish and drinks can increase the bill.

15:15

Kalogria Beach

The beach is just a few minutes’ drive from Agios Ioannis: choose an open stretch of sand or settle in at an equipped area. The light sand and generally clear water invite a stay of about two hours; access is free, while services have variable prices.

Bring water and sunscreen even if you plan to stop at a beach bar.

17:45

Scenic transfer to Neos Marmaras

Drive south for about 25–35 minutes, allowing for possible slowdowns on the coastal road. In Neos Marmaras, stroll between the harbor and the streets of the center, with time for an ice cream or an aperitif, typically €4–10.

19:30

Dinner and overnight stay in Neos Marmaras

End the day on the seafront or in a tavern in the center; dinner ranges from about €20 to €35 per person, depending on the dishes. To reduce travel the next morning, you can stay overnight here or head back to Nikiti, about 30–40 minutes by car.

Day 2 – Vourvourou, Karydi and the bays of Diaporos

09:00–20:00 Beach day with a boat excursion

Discover the eastern coast of Sithonia and devote the heart of the day to the coves accessible by sea.

09:00

Departure for Vourvourou

From Nikiti or Neos Marmaras, allow about 35–50 minutes by car, with possible variations depending on traffic. Have breakfast and stock up on water before reaching the coast; a breakfast at the café costs around €5–10.

10:00

Vourvourou and the coast

Stop along the shoreline to admire the sheltered bays and the outline of the islands off the coast. The walk is free and flexible; set aside about an hour to get your bearings and check sea conditions before any boat trip.

If you want to rent a boat without a license, check in advance the requirements, the deposit, and fuel costs.

11:00

Karydi Beach

Reach Karydi in just a few minutes by car and choose a sheltered spot among the sand and rocks. Access is free; facilities and parking can be limited or seasonal, so allow about 1 hour and 30 minutes for a swim and a short exploration.

12:45

Light lunch in Vourvourou

Stop at a taverna or buy something to take with you before the excursion. Budget around €12–22 per person for a simple meal; respect local rules and do not leave any litter on the beaches.

14:00

Boat excursion to Diaporos

Spend 3–4 hours exploring the coves and little bays around Diaporos, following the renter’s instructions and respecting protected areas. A shared excursion can cost roughly €30–60 per person; renting a small boat may start from about €80–150 per day, often with fuel and a deposit to be considered separately.

If the wind is strong or the sea is rough, heading out may not be advisable: always follow the operator’s instructions.

18:15

Return and transfer to Sarti

Return the boat with the required margin and drive to Sarti for about 45–60 minutes. Take a short break along the way if needed and allow around €5–10 for a drink or a snack.

19:30

Dinner and overnight stay in Sarti

Stroll along the seafront and have dinner in town, where a casual meal usually costs €18–30 per person. Staying overnight in Sarti makes the next day’s start easier; a double room can vary significantly depending on the season and how far in advance you book.

Day 3 – Sarti, Kavourotrypes and the southern peninsula

08:30–21:00 Active day with transfers and seaside stops

Visit the eastern bays in the morning and end the trip with the history of Toroni and the natural harbor of Porto Koufo.

08:30

Breakfast and a walk in Sarti

Start with a stroll along the seafront and breakfast in town, around €5–10 per person. In clear weather, the coast offers lovely views toward Mount Athos; leave the car in town and walk to the beach.

09:30

Kavourotrypes Beach

Drive for about 10–15 minutes from Sarti and spend the morning among the small coves, pale rocks, and crystal-clear water. Access to the free beaches is free of charge, but uneven paths and limited parking spots call for caution.

Avoid leaving valuables in the car and don’t rely on makeshift parking spots that block the road.

12:00

Swimming and a break in Sarti

Head back to Sarti for a more comfortable swim on the long beach and to recharge your energy. A simple lunch at a taverna costs around €15–25 per person; allow about an hour and a half before continuing south.

13:45

Transfer to Toroni

Set off for Toroni by crossing the interior of the peninsula: allow about 50–65 minutes by car and drive carefully on the bends. It’s a good idea to fill up with fuel before leaving and to have water on board, especially on hotter days.

15:00

Ancient Toroni

Explore the archaeological area and the remains of the ancient city, tied to Toroni’s long history. Access to the visitable areas can vary and not all sections are necessarily equipped: check locally and plan for a stop of about 45–60 minutes.

16:15

Toroni beach and village

Reach the beach and the town center, very close to the archaeological site, for a swim and a stroll along the coast. The free beach is free of charge; a snack or a drink may cost around €4–10.

18:30

Sunset and dinner in Porto Koufo

In about 10–15 minutes by car you’ll reach the natural harbor of Porto Koufo, sheltered and picturesque. Take a walk along the waterfront and choose a taverna for dinner, roughly €20–35 per person; from here, arrange your overnight stay or return depending on your departure.

Practical tips

  • To explore beaches and coves with flexibility, a car is the most practical option; in high season, allow extra time for traffic and parking.
  • Book accommodation and boats in advance during the summer months, and always ask whether fuel is included in the rental.
  • Bring water, a hat, and sunscreen: many coves have shade and limited facilities.
  • Check the weather, sea conditions, and accessibility of the archaeological areas on the day of your visit; opening hours and services may change seasonally.
