Day 1 – From the port to the central villages

10:00–20:00 Moderate walks and short transfers

Get your bearings on the island and discover the lanes of Apollonia and Artemonas.

10:00

Kamares Port

Dedicate about an hour to the waterfront and the bay, taking in the layout of the harbor and the slopes framing the landing place. To reach Apollonia, allow about 15–25 minutes by bus or taxi, depending on the service available; a bus ride can cost around €2–4 per person. If you arrive by ferry, treat this timetable as flexible and check connections and up-to-date information through official channels.

If you have luggage, consider leaving it in storage only after checking availability and conditions.

13:00

Apollonia

Allow about two and a half hours to follow the pedestrian lanes, admire the Cycladic houses, and stop for lunch at a taverna; a simple meal can cost around €15–25 per person. To get to Artemonas, you can continue on foot in about 20–30 minutes, or take a short bus or taxi ride, to be checked on site. Drinks depend on the chosen venue and are not included in transport costs.

Comfortable shoes help on the paved stretches and the sloping side streets.

16:30

Artemonas

Spend about two hours wandering through narrow lanes, traditional mansions, and glimpses of the countryside, keeping a relaxed pace for photos and a coffee stop. From Apollonia, walking is a practical option if the heat allows; otherwise, check local connections. A drink or sweet break can cost around €3–8.

For the return to Apollonia or Kamares, check the actual timetables in advance.

Day 2 – Kastro and the southeastern coast

09:30–19:00 Cultural visit and scenic transfer

Explore the historic heart of Kastro and reach the seaside places of worship.

09:30

Kastro

Allow about an hour and a half to cross the medieval village, lingering over the narrow passages, the tightly packed houses, and the panoramic viewpoints. From Apollonia, the transfer usually takes about 10–20 minutes by car or bus, but times and frequency should be checked according to the season. Walking around the village is free; budget about €2–4 for a possible bus ride.

The ground can be uneven: proceed carefully, especially in the narrowest passages.

11:30

Church of the Seven Martyrs

Reach the church with a walk of about 10–20 minutes from Kastro, following the path down toward the promontory; allow an hour for the journey, the exterior visit, and scenic stops. Take in the secluded spot by the sea and the building’s white silhouette, and respect the peace and quiet of the place. Do not assume access to the interior: check for any updated information on official channels; any offering is at the visitor’s discretion.

Bring water and sun protection: the route is exposed in several sections.

15:30

Chrisopigi Monastery

After a lunch break and the transfer to the southeast, set aside about an hour and a half for the monastery and the surrounding coastal viewpoints. From Kastro, allow roughly 20–30 minutes by car or taxi; bus times depend on connections and may involve a longer wait. Access to places of worship may involve specific instructions or offerings: check before your visit on the official website or through local channels.

For lunch, budget about €15–25 per person and check the options in the area before setting off.

Day 3 – Sea between Platys Gialos and Faros

09:30–18:30 Relaxed, with beach stops

Wrap up your stay on the southeastern coast, alternating between the beach and a stroll through a seaside village.

09:30

Platys Gialos Beach

Spend the morning at the beach, allowing at least three hours to swim, relax, and walk along the shore. From Apollonia, the journey takes roughly 15–25 minutes by car or bus, depending on the route and service; a ride may cost around €2–5 per person. For lunch at a taverna, allow €15–30 per person, while any beach facilities have variable prices and should be checked on site.

Bring water and sun protection; the availability and prices of umbrellas or sun loungers may change.

15:30

Faros Village

Get to Faros with an estimated 10–20 minute transfer by car or taxi from Platys Gialos, or check whether local connections fit the schedule. Spend about two hours by the small harbor, in the alleyways, and along the coast, stopping for a drink or a snack that may cost roughly €4–12. Before heading back, confirm the actual transport and time for Apollonia or Kamares.

If you need to catch a ferry in the evening, leave plenty of time for the transfer to Kamares port.

  • To visit more beaches and villages independently, compare bus, taxi and rental costs in advance; also check insurance coverage and driving requirements.
  • Bring suitable shoes for steps and uneven surfaces, as well as water and sun protection for exposed routes.
  • Before visiting churches and monasteries, check the official website for any access guidelines and choose respectful clothing.
