Getting around
Sibiu’s historic center is compact and easy to explore on foot, between the Upper Town and the Lower Town. To reach farther neighborhoods and some nearby attractions, you can use the city buses operated by Tursib. Check schedules, stops, and ticket-purchase options on the service website or app, as they may change. For evening trips or when you have luggage, taxis and ride-hailing services are available. If you arrive by car, keep in mind that parking in the center can be limited.
When to go
From May to September, the days are longer and the climate is generally good for strolling around and exploring the surroundings, although July and August can be crowded. Spring and early autumn are often pleasant and quieter. In winter it is cold and it can snow, but the squares and Christmas markets give the city a special atmosphere.
Where to eat
In the historic center, you’ll find restaurants and traditional taverns where you can try Transylvanian and Romanian dishes such as soups, sarmale, and mămăligă. For a casual meal, also look for bakeries, cafés, and places around the main squares. Menus may include Saxon specialties and Hungarian influences, as well as international options. On weekends and during festivals, it’s a good idea to book ahead, especially at the most popular restaurants.
