The day brings together Piraeus’s urban side and its long connection with the sea, starting at the Municipal Theatre and continuing with two museums near Zea Port. The cultural visits are scheduled for the morning and the early afternoon, when it’s easier to find the sites open: opening hours, however, may change depending on the season and day of the week. In the afternoon, a walk along the piers of Marina Zeas introduces the more scenic side of the coast. The day ends in Mikrolimano, among boats, views over the gulf, and seafood restaurants.

Discover the maritime heritage of Piraeus and end the day among the piers and restaurants of Mikrolimano.
10:00
Municipal Theatre and Korai Square
Start in front of the Municipal Theatre, one of the city’s most recognizable neoclassical buildings, and admire its facade and architectural details. Spend about 30 minutes in Korai Square and the surrounding pedestrian streets; the exterior visit is free, while access inside depends on performances and events.
If you are coming from central Athens, the metro to Piraeus takes about 20–30 minutes, depending on the line and connections.
10:40
Piraeus Archaeological Museum
Reach the museum with a walk of about 15 minutes, or by a short taxi ride if you prefer to save your energy. Allow 60–75 minutes for the sculptures and artifacts linked to the history of the ancient port: admission can cost about 5–10 €. Check the official schedule before you go, because closing days and prices may vary.
This is the most important visit of the morning: check the opening hours for the day you choose.
12:00
Hellenic Maritime Museum
Continue on foot toward Zea Marina, about 10–15 minutes away, and visit the museum dedicated to navigation and Greek naval history. Among models, charts, and historical objects, a 60–75 minute visit gives you a good overview without weighing down the day; expect an approximate admission of 3–6 €. Opening hours may be reduced and some days may be closed.
If the museum is not open, use the time for a longer walk along Zea Marina.
13:30
Lunch around Zea
Stop at a taverna or a casual spot near the harbor, where you can find Greek dishes, salads, souvlaki, and fish. For a simple lunch, budget about 12–22 € per person; a fish-based meal may cost more. Ask for the price per kilo before ordering fresh fish.
During the busiest hours, it can be helpful to book ahead, especially at places with tables overlooking the water.
15:00
Walk at Marina Zeas
Set aside about an hour for a stroll along the quays of Marina Zeas, watching the boats and the life of the marina. The route is flat and free; it alternates between the seafront and the neighborhood streets to capture the everyday atmosphere of Piraeus. For a coffee break or a drink, budget roughly 3–6 €.
The seafront can be exposed to the sun: bring water and sunscreen, especially in summer.
16:30
Transfer to Mikrolimano
From Zea, reach Mikrolimano by taxi, usually in about 10–15 minutes depending on traffic, or by local bus if the route and timetable are convenient. Expect an approximate taxi fare of 7–14 €, varying with traffic and rate; on foot it is possible, but it takes around 30–40 minutes and includes urban stretches.
Before getting on a bus, check the route and frequency via the local public transport app or website.
17:00
Mikrolimano and dinner at the harbor
Stroll around the small harbor basin and enjoy the late-afternoon light on the boats and the waterfront buildings. You can stop for an aperitif, roughly 6–12 €, and then have dinner at a taverna: allow about 20–40 € per person, with significant variation for fish and wine. End the evening at a relaxed pace along the seafront, checking transportation back in advance.
Harborfront restaurants can be more expensive: compare the menu and displayed prices before sitting down.
