To visit Pinios and the villages scattered across the Ilia plain, a car is the most convenient way to get around: it also makes it easier to reach the beaches and nearby towns with greater freedom. The roads connect the area’s settlements, but in the smaller ones bus services and frequencies can be limited. Check transport timetables before setting off, and don’t rely on frequent connections in the evening. In summer, expect heavier traffic on the roads heading to the coast. For short trips around town, walking is often the simplest solution.
When to go
Spring and early autumn are ideal for exploring the area, with pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. Summer is suitable for those who want to combine sightseeing with days at the beach, but it can be very hot, especially during the middle of the day. In winter, the climate is cooler and rainier, and some seasonal activities on the coast may be reduced.
