Day 1 – Parikia: churches, alleys and seafront

10:00–21:00 Easy walks

Get your bearings in Parikia and get to know the main historic sights before exploring the rest of the island.

10:00

Arrival at Paros port

From the port, the center is just a few minutes away on foot; leave your luggage at your accommodation or in storage before starting your visit. Take a moment to check bus schedules for the following days: frequencies change with the season.

In high season, book ferries and accommodation in advance.

10:45

Panagia Ekatontapiliani

Visit the famous Byzantine church, known as the Church of the Hundred Gates, taking in the architecture, baptistery and interior spaces. Allow about 45–60 minutes; access may be subject to opening hours and services.

Respectful attire and covered shoulders are recommended; any donations are optional.

12:00

Archaeological Museum of Paros

Explore the collection of artifacts from the island, useful for putting the history of Paros into context from antiquity to later periods. Allow about an hour and check opening hours and admission fee on site, typically just a few euros.

The museum may be closed or have reduced hours outside the season.

13:30

Lunch in the center of Parikia

Stop at a taverna in the central alleys to taste Greek dishes, local cheeses, and fish depending on availability. For a simple meal, budget about 15–25 EUR per person, drinks not included.

Ask which fish are available today and the price before ordering.

15:00

Frankish Castle of Paros

Walk to the heart of the castle and observe how ancient architectural elements were reused in the houses and walls. The visit is brief and pairs well with a stroll through the surrounding alleys; entrance is generally free.

The surfaces may be uneven: wear shoes with sturdy soles.

18:00

Livadia Beach and sunset stroll

Walk to Livadia, the beach closest to the center, for a swim or a break along the waterfront. From the center it is about a 15–20 minute walk; sunbeds and umbrellas, if available, are charged separately and vary by establishment.

For dinner, walk back to Parikia; allow about 15–25 EUR for an informal meal.

Day 2 – Lefkes and the inland villages

09:00–19:00 Moderate walk and stops in the villages

Discover the mountainous interior of Paros by following the trails and traditional villages.

09:00

Transfer to Lefkes

Reach Lefkes by bus from Parikia, if the service fits your schedule, or by car or taxi; the trip usually takes around 20–30 minutes. Services may be less frequent out of season, so check the timetable before setting out.

A taxi or rental car offers more flexibility for the next stops.

09:45

Stroll through the village of Lefkes

Explore the marble lanes, whitewashed houses, and tiny squares on foot, with stops to take in the views over the hills. The center is compact: allow about an hour and a half, including a coffee break.

The climbs are short but frequent; bring water, especially in the warmer months.

11:30

Church of Agia Triada

Visit Lefkes’ main church, recognizable for its Neo-Byzantine forms and local materials. Spend time outside and go inside only if it’s open; admission is usually free, but opening hours and access may vary.

Avoid visiting during religious services.

12:15

Stretch of the Byzantine Way

Walk a section of the historic stone path that connects the Lefkes area with nearby villages. Even a partial 45–60 minute walk lets you appreciate the terraces, dry-stone walls, and scenery; it is not a route suitable for flip-flops.

Check the wind and temperature and bring water: services are limited along the trail.

14:00

Lunch and a visit to Prodromos

Travel by car or taxi to Prodromos, or use the bus if the timetable allows, and have lunch there. After the meal, wander through the tiny village, among covered passages, courtyards, and traditional houses; a simple lunch costs about 15–25 EUR.

The distance between Lefkes and Prodromos is short by car, but on foot it should be planned carefully.

16:30

Monastery of Agios Antonios

Reach the monastery on the hill of Kefalos, above Marpissa, preferably by car or taxi: access includes an uphill climb and public transport may not reach the entrance. From the complex there is a wide view over the eastern coast; check opening hours and consider a respectful, quiet visit.

Do not assume access to the interior spaces; voluntary donations may be requested.

Day 3 – Naoussa and the northern beaches

09:00–20:30 Urban sightseeing and a beach day

Combine Naoussa’s historic harbor with the northern bays, arranging transport by bus or taxi.

09:00

Naoussa and the harbor

Reach Naoussa from Parikia by bus or taxi; the drive takes approximately 15–25 minutes, while bus times depend on traffic and stops. Stroll among the harbor, alleys, and squares before the central hours become busier.

In July and August, allow extra time for waiting and parking.

10:30

Venetian Fortress of Naoussa

Walk to the remains of the fortification at the harbor entrance and view them from the seafront. The stop is short and free; the site is exposed to the sea, so pay attention to the rocks and wind conditions.

Do not climb on unstable or wet surfaces.

11:15

Kolymbithres Beach

Head to Kolymbithres by bus, taxi, or small boat when service is operating. The wind-sculpted granite formations create small coves: choose a sheltered bay and allow at least two hours to swim and relax.

Sunbeds and boat transfers have variable rates; bring water and sunscreen.

14:00

Light lunch and transfer to Monastiri

Have lunch with a snack or a simple meal in the area, then continue to Monastiri Beach by taxi, car, or seasonal service. The distance means you need to plan your return: don’t rely on an unconfirmed ride at the end of the day.

For a casual meal, expect around 12–22 EUR per person.

15:30

Monastiri Beach

Spend the afternoon at the sheltered bay of Paros Environmental Park, with clear water and a rocky landscape. You can swim or take a short walk nearby; any beach services and activities depend on the season.

In some areas, natural shade is limited: bring a hat and water.

17:30

Santa Maria Beach and return to Naoussa

If connections and time allow, head to Santa Maria for a stop on the long sandy beach, then return to Naoussa. Consider this an optional stop if you don’t have your own vehicle: the three beach areas are not always linked by frequent services.

By bus, check the return times before leaving Naoussa.

Day 4 – Aliki and the southern coast

09:30–19:30 Relaxed, with short transfers

Getting to know the seaside village of Aliki, the local culture, and a sheltered beach in the south.

09:30

Transfer to Aliki

Reach Aliki from Parikia by bus, car, or taxi; by car the trip takes roughly 20–30 minutes. Spend the morning on the seafront and at the small harbor, watching the boats and the village’s daily life.

Check the return connections if you are traveling by bus.

10:30

Walk and coffee in Aliki

Walk along the waterfront and the village lanes with a stop at a café. It’s a relaxed stop, suited to a slow pace; a drink typically costs 3–6 EUR, depending on the venue and what you order.

Seafront tavernas may charge different prices for fish and the catch of the day.

12:00

Folklore Museum of Cycladic Civilization

Visit the collection of miniatures and scenes illustrating Cycladic architecture and customs. The visit takes about 45–60 minutes; check opening hours and admission, typically just a few euros, as hours can change during the year.

In the low season, it’s wise to call ahead or ask in town before going.

13:30

Lunch on the waterfront

Choose a harbor taverna for a lunch of meze, vegetables, fish, or local specialties. Budget around 18–30 EUR per person, with noticeable variation if you choose fresh fish or wine.

Ask the weight and price of the fish before it’s prepared.

16:00

Faragas Beach

Reach Faragas by car or taxi; it’s a quieter bay than the central beaches, but public transport connections may be limited. Spend the afternoon here swimming and relaxing, and make sure you have a clear way to get back.

Bring water and sun protection; facilities and sunbeds may be seasonal and chargeable.

Day 5 – Trip to Antiparos

08:30–19:30 Full day, with ferry transfers

Explore the center of Antiparos and its cave, leaving time for a stop by the sea.

08:30

Ferry from Paros to Antiparos

Reach the port of Pounta, on the west coast of Paros, and board for Antiparos; the crossing is short, but frequency and schedules vary by season. Alternatively, check any passenger connections from Parikia, which may be available seasonally.

The ferry fare is typically just a few euros per passenger; vehicle transport and boarding method affect the cost.

09:30

Port and center of Antiparos

From the port, walk into the center and take your time getting your bearings among the shops, cafés, and whitewashed houses. The village is compact and easy to explore without a car; a breakfast or a coffee costs roughly 4–8 EUR.

If you plan to rent a scooter or a car, check requirements and availability in advance.

10:30

Antiparos Castle

Visit the fortified core in the historic center, integrated into the fabric of the village, and observe the passages and homes arranged around the central space. The visit is short and generally free; respect residents’ privacy.

The alleys are narrow and not always suitable for luggage or strollers.

12:00

Antiparos Cave

Reach the cave by seasonal bus, taxi, or rental vehicle; the route from the center includes an uphill climb and requires planning your return. Inside, you descend numerous steps to see stalactites and stalagmites: check opening times and the entrance fee, typically a few euros.

This is not a suitable visit for anyone with mobility difficulties; wear closed-toe shoes and check the official hours.

16:30

Sifneiko Beach and return

End the day at Sifneiko Beach, reachable from the center with a walk, for a swim or the sunset if the ferry timetable allows. Return to the port with plenty of time to spare and check the last departure in advance.

The beach is exposed: in strong winds, the sea can get rough.

Day 6 – Piso Livadi and the east coast

09:00–19:30 Beach day with short stops

Follow the eastern coast from a fishing harbor to Golden Beach.

09:00

Transfer to Piso Livadi

Reach Piso Livadi from Parikia by bus, car, or taxi; allow extra time if the bus makes intermediate stops. Once you arrive, stroll along the small harbor and identify the useful connections for the rest of the day.

In high season, parking can take time.

10:00

Piso Livadi and a harbor break

Enjoy the seafront and watch the fishing boats before lunch, when the harbor is lively. If you want to take a boat trip, ask the operators directly about duration, route, and sea conditions; prices vary depending on the excursion.

Do not confuse boat excursions with regular connections: always check the destination.

11:30

Golden Beach

Head to Golden Beach by taxi, car, or bus depending on the available service. The long sandy beach is known for windsurfing: you can swim or ask about lessons and equipment rental, with indicative costs of several dozen euros.

The wind can be strong; ask the operators whether the conditions are suitable for your level.

14:30

Lunch and beachside relaxation

Have lunch at one of the local spots or choose a simple meal to enjoy on the beach. Budget around 15–25 EUR for a casual lunch; umbrellas, sun loungers, and sports equipment rentals are extra.

Bring cash for small purchases, and do not rely exclusively on electronic payment.

17:00

Stop in Drios and return

End with a short walk in Drios, a small coastal village south of Golden Beach, before returning to Parikia. This stretch is easier by car or taxi; if using public transport, check the connection to avoid long waits.

For dinner in Parikia, expect around 18–30 EUR per person at a taverna.

Day 7 – The bays west of Parikia and farewell to the island

09:30–18:30 Relaxed, suitable for departure day

Enjoy the beaches near Parikia and return with enough time to spare for the ferry.

09:30

Final walk in Parikia

Spend the morning on a stroll through the town center, buying local products or souvenirs without straying far from the port. It is also a good time to collect your luggage and check for any departure updates.

Don’t leave port preparations until the last minute during the busiest periods.

11:00

Krios Beach

Reach Krios on foot by following the coastal path, by taxi, or by a local boat connection when operating. The bay is close to Parikia, but the route can be exposed to the sun; allow about two hours for swimming and relaxing.

Check the trail conditions and any boat timetables in advance.

13:30

15:00

Marcello Beach

Continue on foot along the coast or take a taxi to reach Marcello, a wide and convenient beach for one last swim near the capital. Allow about an hour and a half and factor in the time needed to get back to the center.

Any rental of sunbeds and umbrellas is seasonal and not included in the base budget.

17:00

Return to the port and departure

Go back to Parikia, pick up your luggage, and reach the terminal at least 60–90 minutes early, especially if you need to check in a vehicle. Check your ticket and the company’s announcements, as wind and operating conditions may change the schedule.

Practical tips

  • In the summer months, book accommodation and ferries in advance and double-check bus schedules: frequency and connections change depending on the season.
  • For inland villages and less-served beaches, consider a car or taxi; if you rent a scooter, check your license, insurance and the vehicle’s condition.
  • Bring water, a hat, sunscreen and suitable shoes: trails, cave steps and village roads can be demanding under the sun.
  • For beach days, check the wind and sea conditions and plan your return in advance, especially at Faragas, Monastiri and Antiparos.
