The itinerary begins in the heart of Parga, among the seafront promenade, the Venetian castle, and the small beaches reachable from the harbor. The second day explores Valtos Bay and the hills of Anthousa, combining sea, rural landscapes, and Ottoman history. The third day is devoted to the inland area: the archaeological site of the Necromanteion and the Acheron springs, to be visited by car or with an organized transfer. The program is best suited to the warm season; opening hours, boat connections, and site accessibility may vary throughout the year.

Discover Parga's town center and alternate monuments with beaches reachable from the port.
10:00
Kryoneri Beach and seafront
Start from the town beach, at the foot of the center, to get your bearings among the harbor, colorful houses, and the islet of Panagia. A walk along the seafront takes about 30–45 minutes; access to the beach is free, while sunbeds and an umbrella can cost roughly 10–25 EUR for two people.
In high season, arrive early to find a spot close to the water.
11:00
Walk through the historic center
Winding up the narrow lanes from the harbor, you’ll pass shops, cafés, and traditional houses, with frequent views over the bay. Set aside about 45 minutes for an unhurried visit and bring a bottle of water, especially during the hotter hours.
12:00
Parga Castle
Reach the Venetian castle on foot by following the uphill alleys: the walk from the harbor usually takes 10–15 minutes and can be slippery in places. Inside, take in the walls and the panoramic viewpoints over the gulf; entry is often free, but availability and opening hours may change.
Wear shoes with good grip and bring water: there’s limited shade.
13:30
Lunch in the center
Stop at a taverna in the inner streets or near the harbor and try the catch of the day, Greek salad, or local dishes. For a simple meal, expect about 15–25 EUR per person, drinks excluded or included depending on the place.
15:00
Panagia Island
From the harbor area, reach the islet by boat when the connection is running, or consider the short swim across only when the sea is calm and conditions are safe. Once ashore, take a short walk between the chapel and the viewpoints; the boat ride can cost around 5–10 EUR round trip.
Check boat times on site: the service is mainly seasonal.
16:30
Lichnos Beach
Reach Lichnos by taxi, car, or boat from the harbor: by boat the trip is usually short, while by road you should allow about 10–15 minutes, plus waiting time. Spend a couple of hours swimming and relaxing; beach access is free and paid services vary by season.
19:30
Return and dinner in Parga
Head back by ferry if it’s still operating, or by taxi, checking availability and the fare in advance. End the day in the center or at the harbor: a casual dinner may cost around 20–35 EUR per person.
Explore Valtos Beach and the main historical and natural highlights above the bay.
09:30
Transfer to Valtos Beach
From the center, you can reach Valtos with an uphill and downhill walk of about 20–30 minutes, by taxi, or by the boats that connect the harbor during the busiest months. The boat ride can cost roughly 5–10 EUR one way; check schedules and frequency on site.
10:00
Morning at Valtos Beach
The long beach offers plenty of space for swimming and relaxing, with equipped sections and quieter areas. Entry is free; for sunbeds and an umbrella, budget roughly 10–25 EUR, while water sports have variable rates.
12:30
Climb up to Anthousa
To continue to Anthousa, take a taxi or drive: the trip from Valtos usually takes about 15–20 minutes, while on foot the route is longer and more demanding. Arrange your return before leaving, as local connections can be less frequent outside the high season.
13:00
Anthousa Waterfall
Stop at the waterfall by following the trails and local signs: the walk can take about 15–30 minutes depending on your starting point and trail conditions. The water flow is more impressive after rainy periods; access is usually free, but the terrain and flow vary with the season.
Do not get too close to the wet rocks and check trail conditions after rain.
14:00
Lunch in Anthousa
Stop in the village for a meal at a taverna, choosing home-style dishes and local products. Expect around 15–25 EUR per person and ask the staff if there are any daily specials.
15:30
Ali Pasha Castle
Reach the castle by car or taxi and visit the remains of the Ottoman fortress, set in a panoramic spot above Parga. Allow around 30–45 minutes to explore the site and admire the gulf; access may be free, but road conditions and opening hours vary.
Bring a hat and water: the area is exposed to the sun.
17:00
Return and sunset at Valtos
Head back toward the bay and, if the weather allows, stop on the beach for sunset or one last swim. The return to Parga can be done on foot, by taxi, or by boat, depending on the time and the season; leave a small buffer for the transfer.
Combine a visit to the archaeological site of Mesopotamo with a light excursion in the area of the Acheron springs.
08:30
Departure from Parga
For this day, a rental car, an agreed taxi, or an organized excursion is recommended, as public transport connections to the stops may be limited. The drive to Mesopotamo takes about 35–45 minutes; allow for fuel and parking costs of around 15–35 EUR in total, depending on the vehicle and route.
09:30
Necromanteion of Acheron
Visit the archaeological complex associated with the cult of the underworld and explore the remains of the sanctuary, the underground chambers, and the exposed structures. Allow about 60–90 minutes; admission can cost roughly 5–10 EUR, though prices and opening hours are subject to change.
11:15
Transfer to Glyki
Continue by car to Glyki and the spring area: the journey takes about 25–35 minutes, depending on the road and traffic. Along the way, you can make a short stop to buy water or a snack before the walk.
12:00
Acheron Springs
From the springs begins access to the river environment, with trails and fording sections that let you get close to the water. Spend 1–2 hours on a walk suited to your level; access to the natural area is generally free, while guided activities and equipment may have indicative costs of 10–30 EUR.
The water is cold even in summer: use water shoes and do not attempt the fords if the current is strong.
14:00
Lunch in Glyki
Head back toward the village and have lunch at a tavern by the river, choosing local dishes and taking a break out of the sun. A meal costs roughly 15–25 EUR per person; in high season it can be useful to book ahead or eat earlier.
15:30
Nature walk along the river
Spend the afternoon on an easy stretch along the Acheron, without trying to follow the river’s full course: choose short, well-traveled trails depending on the day’s conditions. The outing can last 45–90 minutes and has no entrance fee, apart from any services or organized activities.
17:00
Return to Parga
Leave with a buffer for the return trip, which usually takes about 40–50 minutes to Parga. If you have a flight or same-day transfer, avoid scheduling the spring visit too late and factor in possible stops and delays.
