A day on the eastern coast of the Kassandra peninsula, planned with stops in sequence to limit transfers and enjoy the scenery without rushing. Start at the archaeological site of Kallithea and its beach, then continue to the village of Afytos and head down toward the bays of Kriopigi and Polychrono. A car is the most practical option: the places are linked by the coastal road, but bus services may be less frequent outside the peak season. The visiting hours of the archaeological site and access conditions to the beaches may vary depending on the season.

Combine an archaeological visit, the historic center of Afytos, and two seaside stops along a coastal route heading south.
10:00
Visit to the Sanctuary of Ammon Zeus
Spend about 45 minutes at the sanctuary, near the coast and reachable from central Kallithea on foot or by a short drive. Take in the remains of the temple and sacred precinct, keeping in mind that the site is small and visiting depends on seasonal opening hours; admission may be free or have an approximate cost of a few euros.
Check the hours posted on site before setting out: they may change throughout the year.
11:00
Swim at Kallithea Beach
Reach the beach with a short walk or by car and stop for about an hour and a half. The bay is appreciated for its clear water and summer services; a drink or the rental of sunbeds and an umbrella may cost approximately 10–25 € depending on the season and the row you choose.
Bring reef shoes and check sea conditions before swimming.
12:45
Stroll through the village of Afytos
In about 10–15 minutes by car you’ll reach Afytos, a stone village overlooking the gulf. Wander among alleys, little squares, and traditional houses, stopping at the scenic viewpoints; the walk-through takes about an hour and has no admission fee.
The center has cobbled stretches: comfortable shoes are recommended.
14:00
Lunch in a taverna in Afytos
Reserve about an hour and a half for a relaxed lunch in the village, choosing Greek dishes such as salad, grilled vegetables, fish, or souvlaki. As a rough guide, expect to spend 15–30 € per person, depending on what you order and the location of the restaurant.
During peak season, it’s a good idea to ask for a table in advance, especially for those with a view.
15:45
Stop at Kriopigi Beach
Continue south for about 20–25 minutes by car and stop in Kriopigi for a swim and a break in the shade. The coastline is green and the beach is reached via accesses that may include a steep descent or steps; for a stay of about an hour and a half, allow for possible indicative costs of 10–25 € for beach services.
Park only in designated spaces and consider the uphill walk back if you’re traveling with children or people with reduced mobility.
18:00
Stroll and swim at Polychrono Beach
In about 10–15 minutes by car, reach Polychrono, where you can end the afternoon with a walk along the seafront and one last swim. The beach is long and ideal for a relaxing stop; allow at least an hour and a half, and keep in mind that services and prices vary depending on the stretch and the season.
In summer, look for parking in advance: spaces near the seafront fill up quickly.
20:00
Dinner on the Polychrono seafront
End the day with dinner at a taverna or a seafront venue, choosing meze to share or fish with a side dish. Budget roughly 18–35 € per person, excluding any premium drinks; after dinner, you can take a short walk before heading back.
If you’ve been drinking, don’t drive: arrange your return in advance or take a taxi.
