How to get around
The port and the main settlement of are close together and easy to explore on foot. To reach the more remote beaches, keep in mind that the roads are partly narrow and winding, and local connections can be limited, especially out of season. Check in advance whether taxis or a rental vehicle are available: in summer, choices can be limited. Ferry schedules from Ikaria and Samos change with the season and may be affected by the wind.
When to go
From May to October, the climate is generally suitable for swimming, but July and August are the hottest and busiest months. June and September are often a good compromise if you want pleasant temperatures and a calmer atmosphere. In spring and autumn, some services may be reduced; also check ferry crossings, which can change because of bad weather.
