This sandy bay is part of the Simos area and invites you to enjoy the sea in a striking natural setting. Its shallow, bright waters make it especially pleasant on sunny days.
Overlooking the western coast, it is appreciated for its peaceful setting and views out to the open sea. It is a good choice for anyone looking for a break away from the busier beaches.
This small church stands on a rocky islet connected to the mainland by a narrow footbridge, near the harbor. The spot is especially atmospheric at sunset, when it is reflected on the water.
Off the coast lie the submerged remains of an ancient settlement, considered one of the oldest known underwater archaeological sites. The area should be explored carefully, respecting the archaeological heritage and sea conditions.
Near the built-up area, this beach is convenient for a swim without straying far from the harbor and the island’s restaurants and bars. The shoreline offers a pleasant view of the boats and the surrounding coast.
From a first stroll to a week of discoveries. A starting point to make your own.

You can reach Elafonissos by ferry from Pounta, in the Peloponnese: the crossing is short and you can also bring your car aboard. Timetables and frequencies vary by season, so it is worth checking them before departure, especially in summer. On the island, getting around is easiest by car or scooter; distances are short, but the roads can be narrow and in peak season parking near the beaches fills up quickly. For the best-known beaches, such as Simos, it is advisable to set off in the morning. You can explore some areas on foot, but keep in mind the heat and the lack of shade.
From May to June and in September, the weather is generally pleasant and the island is less crowded than in July and August. Summer is the liveliest period, but it also means more traffic, waits for the ferry, and greater difficulty finding accommodation. In spring and early autumn, some services may have reduced hours: check in advance if you are traveling outside the high season.
In the village of Elafonissos, you will find tavernas and places on the harbor, convenient for dinner after the beach; in season there are also options around the beach areas. The cuisine often focuses on fish and seafood, as well as traditional Greek dishes. Ask which products are fresh that day and check prices and availability, especially for fresh fish. In the busier months, it may be useful to book ahead.
