Day 1 – Palaces, art and historic center

10:00–18:00 Easy walks and cultural sightseeing

Discover Craiova’s artistic heritage and get your bearings among the central streets.

10:00

Art Museum

Dedicate about 1 hour and 30 minutes to the palace and its collections, taking time over Constantin Brâncuși’s works and the historic rooms. It’s easy to reach on foot from the center; allow roughly 10–30 RON for the ticket, to be checked on the official website together with entry conditions.

For the visit inside, check opening hours and any possible changes to ticket prices first.

12:00

Old Town

Reach the historic center on foot in just a few minutes and set aside about 2–3 hours to explore squares, 19th-century facades, and pedestrian streets. You can stop for lunch in one of the area’s trattorias or cafés, budgeting roughly 35–80 RON per person for a meal; the walk itself is free.

Leave a little time for a break: the city center is pleasant to visit without a rushed schedule.

Day 2 – Gardens, a large park, and Oltenia traditions

09:00–18:30 Moderate, with urban transfers

Alternate between nature and ethnographic heritage between the northern side, the southern park, and the center.

09:00

Alexandru Buia Botanical Garden

Set aside about 1 hour and 30 minutes for the avenues and the various botanical sections, noticing how the layout of the spaces guides the transition between different environments and species. From the center you can get there by taxi or public transport, in roughly 10–20 minutes; allow 0–15 RON for possible entry and check the updated conditions in advance.

Bring water and comfortable shoes: the visit takes place mostly outdoors.

11:30

Nicolae Romanescu Park

To reach the park from the botanical garden, allow about 15–25 minutes by taxi or public transport, depending on the connection; plan at least 2 hours to stroll among tree-lined avenues, the lake, and scenic views. Access to the public areas is generally free, while any activities or services may cost extra.

The park is large: choose a loop route and take the distances into account before continuing.

16:00

Oltenia Museum (Ethnographic Section)

From the park, return toward the center by taxi or public transport, allowing about 15–25 minutes, and reserve 1–1 hour and 30 minutes for the ethnographic section. The exhibits help you learn about the region’s homes, clothing, crafts, and traditions; budget roughly 10–25 RON for the ticket, to be checked on the official website.

Check in advance for any access arrangements and admission fees for each section.

Day 3 – Târgu Jiu and Brâncuși’s route

07:00–18:30 A long day, with an excursion and a city walk

Visit the three sites of Constantin Brâncuși’s monumental route in Târgu Jiu in sequence.

09:15

Târgu Jiu (The Endless Column)

Leave Craiova around 07:00 by car, with a driver or with a connection verified in advance: the road journey is about 110 km and can take roughly 2–2 hours and 30 minutes. Once there, spend 30–45 minutes at the Endless Column and admire its modular form; for the round trip, budget approximately 120–300 RON by car or with a driver, depending on the service chosen.

If you are traveling by train or bus, check connections, travel times, and transfers before booking the later visits.

10:30

The Gate of the Kiss

From the Column, continue to the central park by car or taxi, or on foot if you prefer a longer route; allow about 25–35 minutes' walk between the two areas. Spend 20–30 minutes at the Gate of the Kiss, observing the carved forms and the relationship between the work and the surrounding landscape; visiting the outdoor spaces normally does not require a ticket, but check for any access restrictions.

A walk lets you follow the thread of the monumental route; consider the weather and how much time you have available.

11:15

The Table of Silence

From the Gate of the Kiss, walk to the Table of Silence in about 10–15 minutes, following the park avenue and the route of the works. Stop for 20–30 minutes to observe the table and the seats arranged around it, then plan a lunch break in Târgu Jiu before returning; estimate 35–80 RON per person for the meal and check any official information on visiting arrangements.

Plan to return to Craiova in the early afternoon and leave some margin for traffic or delays.
