THE PLACES THAT TELL ANTIPAROS
Worth seeing, worth remembering.
This impressive limestone cave is famous for its stalactites and stalagmites and for the long staircase descending into its depths. Inside, you can also find inscriptions left by visitors over the centuries.
On the islet of Despotiko, reachable by boat, you can visit the remains of an important sanctuary dedicated to Apollo. The site also offers a fascinating glimpse into the ancient history of the Cyclades.
Just a short walk from the village, this western beach is loved for its clear waters and sea sunsets. It’s an ideal spot for a peaceful break at the end of the day.
On the southeastern coast, Soros is one of the largest and best-known beaches in Antiparos, with transparent waters and a stretch of sand and pebbles. In the area, you’ll also find tavernas and beach facilities.
This beach overlooks the small settlement of Agios Georgios and the offshore islands, including Despotiko. The sheltered sea and panoramic views make it a pleasant stop in the southern part of Antiparos.

How to get around
Antiparos can be reached by ferry from Pounta, on the western coast of Paros; check schedules and frequency, which may vary depending on the season. In the town center, it’s easy to get around on foot, while to explore beaches and more distant spots, rental cars, scooters, or quads are useful. In summer, local buses are also available, but services may be limited: check the timetables on site. Taxis and rental cars are few, so it’s best to make arrangements in advance during the busiest periods.
When to go
From May to June and from September to early October, the weather is pleasant and the island is generally less crowded than in peak season. July and August are ideal for the sea, but they bring more heat, wind, and demand for accommodation and rentals. In spring and autumn, some services may have reduced hours; check opening times if you are traveling out of season.
Where to eat
In the village of Antiparos, you’ll find tavernas and casual spots, while in several coastal areas you can eat by the sea. Look for simple Greek dishes, fish and seafood, seasonal vegetables, and Cycladic specialties; ask what the daily offerings are and whether the fish is fresh. In peak season, it’s wise to book dinner, especially at the most popular places.

- 01Check the ferry schedules between Pounta and Antiparos before departure and allow some extra time if you need to continue on other connections.
- 02To visit the Antiparos Cave, wear comfortable shoes: access includes many steps and the walk can be demanding.
