Car rental and fuel (per-person share, assuming two travelers)€170–350
Meals and drinks€210–350

Parking, small purchases and unexpected expenses€25–70

Indicative amounts in euros, Greece’s local currency, per person and for the entire trip; the calculation of accommodation and car hire assumes two people sharing a room and vehicle. Rates, fuel, availability and prices may vary significantly depending on the season and booking; travel costs to reach Greece are not included.

Practical tips

  • Rent a car: many bays and several villages are not served frequently by public transport; on narrow roads drive slowly and refuel before heading south.
  • In summer, plan the excursion to Cape Matapan early in the morning, bring plenty of water, and don’t tackle the trail during the hottest hours or in strong winds.
  • Check the seasonal opening hours of Diros Cave, the Pikoulakis Tower Museum, and religious buildings before your visit; published hours may change.
  • Bring cash for small businesses and stops in the villages, as well as shoes with good grip: cobblestones, rocky paths, and beach access points can be uneven.
