7 days / 6 nights · Ambracian Gulf, archaeology, villages, lagoons
Amfilochia is a quiet base overlooking the Ambracian Gulf, convenient for exploring both the coast and some historic cities of Epirus and Aetolia-Acarnania by car. The itinerary moves by area: the town center and coastal villages, Arta and Vonitsa, then Preveza and Nicopolis, and finally the Messolonghi lagoons and inland sites. Archaeological visits are alternated with walks, scenic stops and food breaks, with realistic travel times. Museum and site opening hours may change depending on the season and day of the week: it is advisable to check them before you go.

Bring reef shoes if you’d rather go into the water without sunbeds.

Sunset over the gulf
Head back along the waterfront for an evening stroll and choose a quiet spot to watch the light change over the bay. An aperitif or coffee can cost around 3–8 €; dinner on your own in the tavernas in the center.

From Amfilochia to Menidi
Set off by car south along the coast: the drive to Menidi usually takes about 20–25 minutes. A short stop on the waterfront lets you take in the gulf and plan your day; getting around and standard parking are free of specific charges.
Refuel in Amfilochia if you plan to continue on to the lagoon areas.
09:45
Menidi Harbour
Stroll among the boats and the small harbor, the heart of the town and a pleasant spot for a late breakfast. A coffee and a brioche cost roughly 3–6 €; respect the fishermen’s work in the early hours of the day.
