To explore Viannos and the villages scattered between the interior and the coast, a car is the most practical option. The roads are often winding and can be narrow in the mountains: drive carefully and allow more time than expected. Buses connect some places, but services can be infrequent; check timetables and connections with KTEL before setting out. To reach coves and beaches outside the built-up areas, check road conditions and parking availability in advance.
Spring and early autumn are ideal for visiting the villages, walking inland and enjoying the coast in milder temperatures. In summer, the climate is hot and sunny, especially in the middle of the day, but the sea is pleasant for swimming.
