In the green inland countryside, the Neda River forms waterfalls and natural pools accessible on a hike through forests and gorges. It is a particularly evocative destination on summer days.
This important Mycenaean site preserves tholos tombs and traces of an ancient regional center. Its hillside setting adds to the peaceful charm of the visit.
At the entrance to Filiatra stands a curious miniature replica of the Eiffel Tower, now one of the town's most unusual symbols. It makes for a brief photo stop along the way.

How to get around
To explore Trifylia flexibly, especially its beaches and the small inland villages, having a car is the most practical option. Kyparissia, Filiatra and Gargalianoi are connected by regional roads, but reaching coves and villages may require taking secondary roads. KTEL buses connect some locations, but services can be infrequent: check the timetables in advance, especially out of season. In summer, allow extra time for travel and check parking availability near the most popular beaches.
When to go
Spring and early autumn are ideal for visiting the area, with mild temperatures and fewer crowds. From June to September, the climate is suitable for the sea, but the days can be very hot, especially inland. In spring, the landscape is particularly green, while at the end of summer you may witness the harvest of some local products.
Where to eat
In the tavernas of Kyparissia, Filiatra and the coastal towns, you'll find traditional Greek cuisine, often prepared with local ingredients. Look for fish and seafood dishes near the sea, as well as seasonal vegetables, olives and Messinian olive oil. In the inland villages, it's also worth trying grilled meats and homemade specialties: ask what the daily dishes are.
