Getting around
Topiros is a municipality made up of distinct localities, so to explore the surrounding area, having a car is the most practical option. The roads connect the villages to the city of Xanthi and the Nestos River area. Bus connections can be limited and vary depending on the locality and the day: check schedules and stops with the KTEL company before setting off. To explore trails and natural areas, check conditions and access points in advance. In summer, avoid the hottest hours for walks.
When to go
Spring and early autumn are ideal for visiting the area, with generally milder temperatures and favorable conditions for exploring the Nestos landscapes. Summer can be very hot, while in winter the climate is cooler and rainier. If you want to go hiking, find out about trail conditions and bring water and sunscreen with you.
