Attention: in Romania there are two places called Sfântu Gheorghe, one in Covasna County and one in the Danube Delta. If you are traveling to the Delta village, you reach it by boat from Tulcea or Murighiol: check schedules and availability in advance, because departures can vary by season. Once there, getting around is mostly on foot or by bicycle. The city of Covasna, on the other hand, is served by rail and is easy to explore on foot; for local trips, check bus and train timetables.
For the Danube Delta, the period from May to September offers warmer days and favorable conditions for boat trips, but in summer it’s wise to book ahead. Spring and early autumn are quieter and more pleasant for observing nature. The city of Covasna can be visited year-round: spring and summer are ideal for strolling, while in winter it gets cold and snowfall is possible.
