Getting around
To explore the Sfakia region, a car is convenient: the mountain roads are scenic but winding, and travel times can be longer than expected. Ferries depart from for coastal destinations such as and Agia Roumeli, which are not reachable by car. Buses connect the area with Chania, but departures can be infrequent and vary by season. Check bus and ferry schedules in advance, especially if you need to continue your journey by another means. In the villages and on the trails, expect some walking and bring suitable footwear.
