How to get around
The Municipality of Saronikos is extensive and includes coastal locations such as Anavyssos, Saronida and Palaia Fokaia, as well as inland centers: to get around with flexibility, having a car is the most convenient solution. From Athens, the area can also be reached by KTEL Attikis regional buses, but routes and frequencies vary depending on the destination and the season. Check the updated timetables before setting off and keep in mind that, for some beaches or locations, a taxi may be needed from the last stop. In summer, traffic on the coastal road can increase, especially on weekends.
When to go
From May to October the climate is generally favorable for enjoying the sea; June and September often offer a good balance between pleasant temperatures and smaller crowds. July and August are the hottest and busiest months, with livelier beaches and roads. In spring and autumn, the days can be ideal for walking and exploring the surroundings, even if the sea is cooler.
Where to eat
In the seaside towns you’ll find tavernas and restaurants where you can try fish and seafood, often accompanied by salads, vegetables and traditional Greek dishes. In the inland centers, you can look for tavernas serving meat specialties and home-style recipes. For a simpler meal, try souvlaki or meze to share. In high season, especially in the evening and on weekends, it’s advisable to book at the most popular places.
