The car is the most practical way to explore the region: the villages are scattered and public transport can be limited. The roads are often narrow and winding, so it’s best to drive slowly, especially in winter or after rain. and are good bases for visiting the lakes and the surrounding area. Spring and autumn are ideal for walks and birdwatching, with mild temperatures and especially beautiful scenery.
