Nestos Delta

To explore the Nestos region and reach the access points to the delta, a car is the most convenient option: the attractions are spread across several centers and public transport can be infrequent. is a useful reference point for services and getting around the area. Before setting off, check road conditions and verify bus schedules, especially on weekends and out of season. For trips along the river, find out which areas are accessible and respect the signage in the protected zone. Bring water and shoes suitable for trails, which can be unpaved.

When to go

Spring and early autumn are ideal for walking and birdwatching in the delta, with generally milder temperatures. In summer it gets hot and the middle of the day can be tiring; if you travel during this period, plan visits for the morning or late afternoon. Winter is quieter, but the weather can make outdoor activities less convenient.
