The itinerary begins in the historic center of Mykonos, where alleys, churches, and windmills can be explored comfortably on foot, and continues with a day dedicated to the nearby archaeological island of Delos. The final day is reserved for the southern beaches, connected in season by bus and, in some periods, by taxi-boat. Day 1 – Chora: port, alleys, and sunset

10:00–21:00 Easy walks

Discover the main viewpoints of Chora by following a compact walking route.

10:00

Stroll to the Mykonos Old Port

Start at the old port, a handy landmark for finding your way between the waterfront and the narrow streets of Chora. Set aside about 30–45 minutes for the quays and the surrounding lanes; a simple breakfast at the local bars may cost roughly €5–12.

The old port should not be confused with the new port, which is used by numerous ferries.

11:00

Archaeological Museum of Mykonos

Reach the museum with a short walk from the port and allow about 45–60 minutes for the collections of artifacts from Mykonos and the nearby islands. Admission may vary, roughly €4–10; check opening hours and prices, which can change with the season.

If the museum is closed, use this time slot to explore the harbor district at a leisurely pace.

12:15

Panagia Paraportiani

Continue on foot to the church, one of the island's most recognizable landmarks, made up of several chapels added together over the centuries. Access to the outside area is free; spend 20–30 minutes admiring the architectural forms and the setting of the Kastro neighborhood.

Respect any religious services and any restrictions on interior access.

13:00

Lunch and a stroll through Matogianni

Wander through the lanes to Matogianni, the liveliest street for boutiques, cafés, and shops. Allow about an hour for lunch, with an estimated budget of €15–30 per person, plus a little time to browse without rushing.

In the narrowest lanes, take care: scooters and small service vehicles also pass through.

17:30

Windmills of Mykonos

Walk to the Kato Mili windmills, overlooking the sea and Chora. The exterior visit is free and takes about 30–45 minutes; arriving in the late afternoon helps avoid some of the heat and catch good light for photos.

The route includes uphill sections and uneven paving.

19:00

Sunset in Little Venice

End the day in Little Venice, just a few minutes’ walk from the windmills, among houses set right on the water and scenic terraces. A drink can cost roughly €8–18; for dinner nearby, expect about €25–50 per person, depending on the venue and what you choose.

For a sea-view table in high season, it’s wise to book ahead.

Day 2 – Delos: journey to the sacred island

08:00–16:30 Cultural visit, moderate walk

Visit the main archaeological remains of Delos on a day trip from Mykonos.

08:00

Breakfast and trip preparation

Have breakfast near the departure port and pack water, a hat, and sunscreen: shade on Delos is limited. Budget roughly €5–12 for breakfast and bring a snack or packed lunch.

Check the boarding point and return time on your ticket: departures may change depending on the season and sea conditions.

09:00

Boat transfer from Mykonos

Board the tourist connection to Delos, usually bookable separately from the site ticket. The crossing generally takes about 30–40 minutes; transport can cost roughly €20–30, with schedules and fares subject to change.

Book ahead during the busiest months and check whether the guided tour is included.

10:00

Archaeological Site of Delos

Dedicate about two hours to the archaeological area, following the paths among buildings, sanctuaries, and the remains of the ancient city. Admission can cost roughly €12–20; check updated prices, any discounts, and official opening hours before visiting.

The ground is sun-exposed and partly uneven: closed shoes and water are essential.

12:00

Terrace of the Lions

Make your way to the Terrace of the Lions, one of the island’s landmark spots, along the site’s internal paths. Allow 20–30 minutes to admire the statues and the archaeological setting; some original works may be kept in the museum for conservation reasons.

Stay on the marked paths and do not climb on the monuments.

12:45

Lunch break on the island

Stop in the designated area to enjoy your packed lunch and rest before heading back. Allow about 30–40 minutes and bring everything you need with you: services on the island are limited, and you should not rely on open refreshment facilities.

Take your trash back to Mykonos and do not leave food or packaging on the site.

14:00

Return to Mykonos

Board at the time indicated by the operator and return to Mykonos, leaving some buffer for any changes due to sea conditions. The crossing usually takes 30–40 minutes; once back, keep the afternoon free to rest or have dinner near your accommodation, with an estimated cost of €20–45.

Do not walk away from the pier without confirming the return time precisely.

Day 3 – The southern coast and its beaches

09:00–18:30 Relaxed, with short transfers

Enjoying some of the southern beaches and deciding on the spot how much time to spend on the sea and relaxing.

09:00

Transfer to Ornos Beach

From Chora, reach Ornos by bus, if the service is running, or by taxi: allow around 10–20 minutes, with an estimated cost of €2–5 by bus or €12–25 by taxi, varying depending on route and season. Spend about an hour at the beach and for a morning swim.

Bus schedules change throughout the year; check the updated departures at the stop.

10:30

Morning at Ornos Beach

Ornos offers a sheltered bay and nearby services, making it a good stop for a short break before continuing along the coast. Access to the beach is free; sun loungers and an umbrella, if available, may cost approximately €25–60 for two people.

Prices for beach setups vary widely depending on the row and the season.

12:00

Platis Gialos Beach

Head to Platis Gialos: you can check whether a seasonal taxi boat is operating or use buses and walking paths, allowing for variable travel times. Stop for a swim and lunch; a simple meal or a taverna can cost approximately €15–35 per person.

Ask locally whether the taxi boat is operating and always check the last departure.

14:00

Coastal walk to Paraga Beach

From Platis Gialos, continue to Paraga along the coastal path, if the conditions and heat allow; allow about 20–30 minutes on foot. The bay is a great stop for an afternoon swim and a short rest, with free beach access.

Bring water and suitable shoes: the path can be exposed to the sun.

15:30

Stop at Paradise Beach

Continue to Paradise Beach with a seasonal taxi boat, if operating, or reach it by bus or taxi, checking the best option for the day. Allow about 30–60 minutes for the beach and lively atmosphere; snacks and drinks can cost around €8–20.

The liveliness and crowd level depend on the month and the time of day.

17:30

Return to Chora

Head back by bus or taxi, leaving a buffer for waiting times and traffic, which can be especially heavy in high season. The transfer may take about 20–40 minutes; for a final dinner in Mykonos, budget around €25–50 per person.

If you need to catch a ferry or a flight, avoid scheduling this day too close to departure.

Estimated budget

Accommodation for 2 nights (per person, in a double room)€140–450
Meals and drinks for 3 days€90–210
Local transportation on the island€15–70
Boat excursion to Delos€20–30
Admission to the archaeological site of Delos€12–20

Indicative estimates per person, excluding the trips to reach Mykonos and personal purchases; prices may increase significantly in high season. Rates, opening hours, and connections are subject to change: check the latest information before you leave.

Practical tips

  • Book your accommodation and the boat trip to Delos in advance, especially between June and September.
  • For Delos, bring water, a hat, sunscreen, and shoes with soles suitable for uneven paths: facilities and shaded areas are limited.
  • In Mykonos, bus, taxi-boat, and museum schedules may vary depending on the season; check the information the day before traveling.
  • In the alleys of Chora and on sun-exposed beaches, wear comfortable shoes and bring cash for small expenses, while still checking on-site payment methods.
