A small museum dedicated to the area's extraordinary geological richness, with minerals extracted from the local mines. The visit helps explain the central role mining has played in the history of Lavrio.
Housed in the buildings of the historic French mining company, the park preserves the industrial architecture and the memory of the city's mining past. Today, the spaces host cultural and scientific activities and exhibitions.

Among the oldest theaters in Greece, it stands in the hilly landscape of Thorikos and features a distinctive elliptical layout. The visit pairs well with a walk among the nearby archaeological remains.

How to get around
The center of Lavrio and the harbor can easily be explored on foot. To reach Athens, there are bus connections, but schedules and stops may vary: check them before departure. Taxis and rental cars are useful for exploring the beaches and Cape Sounion, where public transport can be limited. Ferries depart from the port for some islands; check routes and times in advance, especially outside the high season.
When to go
Spring and early autumn are pleasant times to visit Lavrio and the surrounding area, with generally milder temperatures and fewer crowds than in summer. From June to September the weather is hot and the days are ideal for the sea, but it’s wise to protect yourself from the sun. In winter, visits are quieter, although some tourist services and connections may be reduced.
Where to eat
For food, look for tavernas and restaurants in the harbor area and in the center, where you’ll often find fish and Greek dishes. Ask what the daily specials are and check the menu and prices before ordering, especially for fish sold by weight. In the summer months, it’s advisable to book ahead in the busiest places in the evening.
