3 days / 2 nights · Historic city, sea, islands

The route begins in the center of Kerkyra, where fortresses, squares, and churches can be visited comfortably on foot. The second day is devoted to the northwestern coast, between the rock formations of Sidari and the views from Cape Drastis, with an overnight stay in the area to reduce travel time. The third day is reserved for Othonoi, one of the Diapontia Islands, reachable only if seasonal schedules allow a same-day excursion. Ferry times and costs should be checked again before departure, as they may change depending on the season and sea conditions.

Day 1 – Kerkyra: squares, fortresses and old town

10:00–19:00 Moderate urban walks

Explore on foot the main monuments of the old town and get your bearings among Venetian, French and British architecture.

10:00

Spianada and Liston

Start from the large green square overlooking the old town, and walk along the Liston arcades to observe the facades and daily life of the city. The walk is free; allow about an hour for an initial stop and a coffee, roughly 3–5 €.

In the morning the square is quieter and less exposed to the heat.

11:15

Old Fortress of Corfu

Cross the bridge to the fortress, allowing around 1.5–2 hours for the bastions, ramparts, and viewpoints over the harbor and the town. Admission may be charged: budget roughly 6–10 €, checking the day’s rates and opening hours.

The surfaces are uneven: comfortable shoes and water are useful.

13:30

Lunch in the historic center

Stop at a tavern between Spianada and the inner streets to try local specialties such as pastitsada or sofrito. For a main course with a drink, expect around 15–25 € per person; the more central places can cost more.

Booking is recommended during peak season.

15:00

Palace of St. Michael and St. George

Visit the neoclassical palace on the northern edge of Spianada and, if the museum is open, explore the Asian art collections. Set aside about 60–90 minutes; the entrance ticket, if any, is roughly 3–8 €.

Museum opening hours may vary depending on the season and public holidays.

16:45

Church of Saint Spyridon

Head to the church dedicated to the island’s patron saint, recognizable by the bell tower rising above the rooftops of the old town. Entry is generally free; visit with respectful attire and keep in mind that religious services may restrict access.

Inside, quiet behavior is required; avoid taking photos where they are not allowed.

17:45

New Fortress of Corfu

End with the Venetian fortress above the old harbor, reachable on foot in about 15 minutes from the center. Allow an hour for the walls and views; check on site for access to the different areas and for any entrance fee, roughly 3–8 €.

If you are staying overnight in Sidari, allow about an hour for the drive or taxi transfer and check bus options in advance.

Day 2 – Northwestern coast: Sidari and Cape Drastis

09:00–18:30 Coastal excursion with seaside stops

Discover the landscapes of Sidari and Cape Drastis and get closer to the port from which you can arrange the possible excursion for the following day.

09:00

Canal d'Amour

Head to the Sidari coast and walk the short trails above the sandstone cliffs, shaped by the sea into cavities and channels. The visit is free and takes about 60–90 minutes; stay on the marked paths, because the rock can be crumbly.

To swim, always check the waves and currents, and do not dive from unauthorized spots.

10:45

Sidari Beach

Spend a couple of hours at the main beach, with generally easy access to the sea and facilities in the tourist area. Access is free; sunbeds and an umbrella may cost around 10–25 € for the day, depending on the beach club and the season.

Bring water and sunscreen if you plan to stay outside the equipped areas.

13:15

Lunch in Sidari

Choose a tavern in town before continuing west: you'll have a wider choice than at the isolated viewpoints. A simple meal costs around 15–25 € per person; for the excursion the next day, it's a good idea to buy water and a few snacks as well.

Ask the manager or your accommodation to help you check the updated ferry connections.

14:45

Cape Drastis

Continue by car or taxi to the viewpoints at Cape Drastis, famous for its pale cliffs and coastal coves. Allow 60–90 minutes for access and sightseeing; the final stretch can be rough and access by boat depends on the sea, with paid outings if available.

Do not take private tracks or unstable slopes; check conditions before going down to the sea.

16:45

Agios Stefanos Avliotes Port

Reach the port, about 20–30 minutes by car from Sidari, and ask the operators directly about sailings or excursions to the Diapontia Islands. Do not assume there will be a same-day departure or return: schedules, frequency, and availability change with the season and the weather.

Confirm in writing the return time, boarding point, and cancellation policy.

18:00

Return and overnight in the area

Head back to Sidari or to accommodation near Agios Stefanos, so you can leave early without crossing the island. For a casual dinner, budget about €18–30 per person; if you have not found a reliable sea connection, use this evening to arrange an alternative on the coast.

Avoid planning a pre-dawn departure without having already confirmed transport.

Day 3

Othonoi, Diapontia Island

07:00–19:00 Long day, dependent on connections

Visit Ammos village and the coast of Othonoi with a round-trip sea excursion confirmed in advance.

07:00

Departure for Agios Stefanos Avliotes

Arrive at the port with the advance notice required by the operator, bringing your ID, water, a hat, and cash. The transfer from the Sidari area is short by car; for a taxi or any organized transport, allow roughly €15–35 one way, depending on distance and availability.

This day is feasible only with a sailing or excursion that guarantees a return to Corfu on the same day.

08:00

Crossing to Othonoi

Board the booked connection or excursion: duration and route vary according to the boat and sea conditions. For sea transport or a boat tour, budget roughly €30–80 per person, to be confirmed with the operator; do not buy a one-way ticket without having clarified the return.

If the sea is rough, services may be changed or cancelled.

10:00

Ammos and Othonoi

Once you’ve disembarked, stroll through the small harbor and the houses of Ammos, the island’s main arrival point. Set aside about an hour for the visit and ask locally which services and transport options are available: on the island, choices are limited and may be seasonal.

Do not rely on frequent taxis or buses: agree on any local transfer in advance.

11:30

Aspri Ammos Beach

If the excursion includes a stop and sea conditions allow, reach Aspri Ammos by boat and enjoy the beach and its crystal-clear waters. Access may require a boat or a challenging walk; bring suitable shoes, water, and everything you need, as services are limited.

Follow the skipper’s instructions and agree precisely on the time to be back on board.

14:30

Lunch and free time in Othonoi

Return toward Ammos for a simple meal and a break before boarding for the return trip. Budget roughly €15–25 per person, but check whether the local venues are open: outside the high season, options may be limited.

Keep a запас of water and food in case the businesses are closed.

16:00

Return to Corfu

Board at the agreed time and head back to Agios Stefanos, expecting to arrive in Corfu in the late afternoon or evening depending on the crossing. If there is no suitable return connection, skip the day trip and consider an extra overnight stay on the islands or returning to Kerkyra.

Keep evening plans flexible: the sea and ferry schedules can affect timings.

Estimated budget

Accommodation for 2 nights in a double room, per person€90–240
Meals and drinks for 3 days€105–195
Local transport and transfers on the island€35–100
Fortress and museum entrance fees€12–30
Excursion or sea transfer to Othonoi€30–80

The local currency is the euro (€). The figures are rough estimates per person, excluding flights and based on shared accommodation; fares, admissions, meals, and connections can vary significantly depending on the season and availability. Check schedules and conditions directly with museums, ferry operators, and accommodations before departure.

Practical tips

  • Check well in advance whether the Othonoi excursion is feasible: not every day offers connections that allow a same-day return.
  • Keep an alternative plan for day three, because wind and sea conditions can alter or cancel connections to the Diapontia Islands.
  • In the historic center of Kerkyra and around the fortifications, you’ll walk on uneven surfaces: choose comfortable shoes and bring water.
  • For Sidari, Cape Drastis, and exposed beaches, use sun protection and stay away from the cliff edges.
