Getting around
To explore the villages and mountain landscapes of Tzoumerka, a car is the most practical solution: public transport links are limited and not well suited to getting between the different places. The roads are often narrow, winding, and steep, so it’s best to drive carefully and allow more time than the distances might suggest. Before setting off, fill up in the larger towns and check road conditions, especially in winter or after heavy rain. For hikes, check where you can park and keep in mind that some stretches must be covered on foot.
When to go
Spring and early autumn are ideal for hiking and visiting the villages, thanks to generally mild temperatures and especially scenic landscapes. Summer offers days well suited to outdoor activities, but in the mountains the weather can change quickly. Winter is cold and can bring snow or ice, with possible disruptions to travel: always check the forecast and road conditions before setting out.
