Kato Nevrokopi is located in a mountainous area dotted with small settlements: to explore the surroundings, a car offers the greatest freedom. From Drama, you can reach the town by road; if you are traveling by bus, it is advisable to check timetables and service frequency in advance, as they may be limited. In winter, snow and ice can make getting around more challenging, so check road conditions before setting out. In the built-up areas you can get around on foot, but for excursions in the surrounding area you need to plan transport and the return trip.
Spring and early autumn are pleasant times to explore the countryside and villages, with generally milder temperatures. Summer is suitable for outdoor activities, but it is still useful to bring a warm layer for the evening. Winters are known for intense cold and can be snowy: choose this season only if you are prepared for mountain conditions.
In the tavernas and venues in the area, you can find traditional Greek cuisine, home-style dishes, and local farm products; Nevrokopi potatoes are particularly well known. The choice may be more limited than in larger cities, and opening hours vary depending on the season. If you plan to eat out in the evening, check in advance which places are open.
