This picturesque fishing village is arranged around a scenic harbor, among traditional houses and seaside tavernas. It is one of the most evocative stops on the eastern coast.

Getting around
Ithaca has no airport: it is reached by ferry, mainly from Sami in Kefalonia, or from some ports on mainland Greece, with connections that can vary by season. The main port is Pisaetos, near . To explore beaches and villages freely, a car is the most practical option; alternatively, you can rent scooters or use buses, which run less frequently and more often in summer. The roads are often narrow and winding, so it’s wise to drive carefully and allow more time than expected. In summer, also look into boat excursions, useful for reaching coves and stretches of coast that are difficult to visit overland.
When to go
The most pleasant period is generally from May to June and from September to early October, when the weather is mild and the island is less crowded. July and August bring hot days and plenty of services open, but also more visitors and often higher prices. In spring and autumn, some connections and activities may be reduced: check ferry times and the opening hours of facilities before you leave.
Where to eat
