Stops on the map

09:00–21:00 Urban walks and museum visits

Discover the main Renaissance masterpieces in the city center and end the day with a panoramic view of the city.

09:00

Galleria dell’Accademia

Plan on about 75 minutes for the visit, focusing on Michelangelo’s David and the other sculptures in the Tribune. Time-slot reservations are especially useful to cut down the wait; expect a ticket price of around €16–20 and possible additional booking fees.

The gallery is generally closed on Mondays: check the official calendar and book before departure.

10:30

Piazza del Duomo and Cathedral

Walk to Piazza del Duomo in about 10 minutes and admire Brunelleschi’s dome, Giotto’s bell tower, and the cathedral façade. If the time and day allow, go inside the Cathedral of Santa Maria del Fiore: entry to the church is free, but there may be queues and specific entry rules.

The dome, bell tower, baptistery, and other monuments require tickets and time slots; do not count them as a guaranteed visit without booking.

11:30

Piazza della Signoria

Continue on foot for about 10 minutes until you reach the square, the civic heart of historic Florence. Pause at the Palazzo Vecchio and the sculptures of the Loggia dei Lanzi, accessible from the public area; visiting the interior of Palazzo Vecchio requires time and a separate ticket.

The square is always accessible; allow 30–40 minutes for an unhurried exterior visit.

12:15

Lunch break in the historic center

Choose a trattoria or a place around the center, leaving about an hour to eat before your visit to the Uffizi. A simple lunch can cost roughly 15–25 €, while a full table service meal may be more expensive.

To keep to schedule, avoid lunch too far from the Piazza della Signoria area.

13:30

Uffizi Gallery

Set aside about two hours for the collection, focusing on the masterpieces by Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael. The route is extensive and the visit requires attention: choose in advance the rooms that interest you most. Consider an approximate cost of around 25–30 €, which may vary depending on the season, purchase method, and reservation.

The Uffizi are generally closed on Mondays; buy a timed ticket and check for any changes before your visit.

15:45

Walk along the Ponte Vecchio

From the Uffizi exit, reach the Ponte Vecchio in just a few minutes on foot. Cross it at a leisurely pace, admiring the historic shops and views over the Arno; the bridge is free and remains one of the most charming walks in the city center.

In the afternoon it can be very crowded: keep your belongings safe and stop at the edges for photos.

16:30

Oltrarno and Piazza Santo Spirito

After crossing the bridge, explore Oltrarno on foot among artisan workshops and neighborhood streets, with a stop in Piazza Santo Spirito. Allow about an hour for the walk and a break; a coffee or snack costs roughly 3–10 €.

Workshop opening hours vary: in the late afternoon some may already be closed.

18:15

Walk up to Piazzale Michelangelo

To get to the square, you can tackle the uphill walk, which usually takes 30–40 minutes, or take a city bus or a taxi, checking routes and service for the day. Leave extra time for the trip and any queues, especially if you want to arrive before sunset.

The walk uphill is scenic but steep: water and comfortable shoes are recommended.

19:15

Panorama and dinner

Admire the outline of the historic center from the terrace of Piazzale Michelangelo and pause for photos; the square is free to access. End the day with dinner nearby or head back toward Oltrarno: budget roughly 20–40 € per person for a meal, depending on the venue and your choice.

The ideal time depends on the season: in winter sunset can be well before 19:15, while in summer it is later.
