Practical tips

  • For this itinerary, a car is strongly recommended: before taking dirt roads to remote beaches, ask the rental company whether the vehicle is suitable and insured.
  • In summer, plan archaeological sites and hikes for the morning, bring plenty of water and sun protection; some trails are exposed and without facilities.
  • For Red Beach and Agiofarago, wear closed shoes with good grip and check the wind and sea conditions before swimming.
  • Check opening times for museums, monasteries, and archaeological sites: they may vary by season, day of the week, or public holidays.
