The center of Eretria and the waterfront can be easily explored on foot. To discover the beaches and villages of Euboea, a car offers greater freedom; alternatively, you can use taxis and buses, checking schedules in advance, as services can be infrequent. Ferries to Oropos on the mainland depart from the port: check timetables and availability, especially outside the high season. To reach the island from Athens, you can also go via Chalkida, linked to the mainland by a bridge.
Spring and early autumn are ideal for visiting Eretria, with mild temperatures and fewer crowds, while summer is the best time for the sea, though it can be hot and lively. July and August are the busiest months: book in advance and keep in mind that sites and services may have seasonal opening hours.
