Worth seeing, worth remembering.

How to get around
The car is the most convenient way to explore Epidaurus and the archaeological sites in the area, which are located some distance from the town center. The roads connect the town to Nafplio and other stops in Argolida, but it is best to check road conditions and travel times in advance. Regional buses can be an alternative, with services that vary depending on the season and the route. Once you arrive at the archaeological site, the visit is on foot and requires comfortable shoes. In summer, bring water and sun protection: shade along the route can be scarce.
When to go
Spring and early autumn offer generally more pleasant temperatures for visiting the ancient theater and the sanctuary of Asclepius. Summer is lively and can be very hot; performances are also held during this period as part of the Epidaurus Festival, but the program changes every year and it is wise to book in advance. To visit the archaeological site more peacefully, choose the early morning hours.
Where to eat
In Palaia Epidavros, the harbor and seafront are a good area to find tavernas and restaurants, often serving fish and Greek dishes. In the surrounding area, you can taste specialties made with local ingredients such as olive oil, vegetables, and cheese. In high season, it is advisable to book dinner, especially at places overlooking the sea.
Quick tips
- 01Check the opening hours and days of the archaeological site before your visit, as they may vary by season.
- 02If you attend a performance at the ancient theater, check the directions for arrival and return: the site is outside the town center.
- 03Bring water, a hat, and suitable shoes, especially in the summer months.
- 04If you are traveling without a car, plan your transfers in advance and check the updated bus timetables.
