How to get around
A car is the most convenient way to explore Dytiki Achaia and reach the beaches and places that are farther apart. Kato Achaia is the main settlement and can be a practical base for getting around. You can reach it from Patras by bus, but schedules and local connections may vary depending on the season. To visit the coastal areas and the region, check public transport times and availability in advance.
When to go
Late spring and early autumn are pleasant times to visit the area, with generally milder temperatures and fewer crowds than in high season. Summer is ideal for the sea, but it can be very hot: plan visits for the cooler hours and bring water and sun protection. In winter, the weather is more variable and some tourist services may have reduced hours.
Where to eat
In Kato Achaia and the coastal towns, you’ll find tavernas and restaurants where you can sample Greek dishes, fish, and seafood when available. Look for local products and specialties from the Achaea region on the menu, paired with local wines. In summer, it’s a good idea to check opening hours and book ahead at the busiest restaurants, especially in the evening.
