Getting around
The metro is the easiest way to reach central Athens: Dafni station is on Line 2, which connects the area with Syntagma and other city hubs. City buses serve the neighborhoods and can be handy for trips not covered by the metro; check updated routes and timetables before setting out. For short distances, walking is practical, but some streets are uphill, especially toward Ymittos. To explore Mount Ymittos, choose suitable footwear and check trail accessibility in advance.
When to go
Spring and autumn are the most pleasant times to visit Dafni-Ymittos and stroll along the slopes of the mountain, thanks to generally mild temperatures. In summer, the heat can be intense, especially in the middle of the day: plan hikes for the morning or late afternoon and bring water. Winter is usually quieter, but rain and wind can make outdoor routes less easy to tackle.
