How to get around
Brașov’s historic center is easy to explore on foot, but wear shoes suited to cobblestones and steep streets. To reach more distant neighborhoods, you can use the city buses operated by RATBV: check the latest routes and payment options before setting off. To get up to Poiana Brașov, the mountain resort just outside the city, there are bus connections from the center. Taxis and ride-hailing services are useful in the evening or when you have luggage. If you arrive by car, keep in mind that parking near the central attractions can be difficult.
When to go
Spring and early autumn are ideal for exploring the city and surroundings, with generally pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds. Summer brings long days, but it can be rainy; winter is cold and snowy, and is also suitable for those who want to reach the slopes of Poiana Brașov. In every season, bring layers: mountain weather can change quickly.
Where to eat
In the historic center you’ll find traditional restaurants, modern venues, and cafés; for a typical meal, look for dishes like sarmale, mămăligă, and ciorbă. The streets around are convenient, but often busier: walking a few blocks away can lead to lower prices. For dinner on weekends, it’s advisable to book ahead, especially at the most popular places.

- 02Check the bus schedules, especially if you plan to travel in the evening or head to Poiana Brașov.
