3 days / 2 nights · Villages, beaches, sea, nature
The itinerary begins in Patitiri, the island’s main port, and continues to Chora, the historic village perched inland. The second day is dedicated to the beaches of Kokkinokastro and Chrisi Milia, on the eastern coast; the third heads from Votsi up toward the northern bays and Steni Vala. To follow the sequence of stops without cramming too many visits into a single day, it’s best to have a car or scooter and allow extra time for the winding roads.

Get your bearings in Patitiri and discover the historic center of Chora.
10:00
Patitiri and the Alonissos Museum
Set aside about two hours for the harbor, the piers, and the waterfront, then visit the museum to learn more about the island’s history and traditions. The museum is located in the downtown area: check the official website for the latest information on opening hours and tickets; budget roughly €2–6 for admission, if applicable. For lunch, choose a taverna on the harbor: a simple meal can cost around €12–25 per person.
If you’re arriving by ferry, allow time to drop off your luggage; parking availability and cost may vary.
15:00
Chora (Old Village)
Reach Chora from Patitiri in about 10–15 minutes by car or taxi; alternatively, check the availability of local connections and walking times, which depend on the route chosen. Set aside two to three hours for the cobbled lanes, traditional houses, and sea-view lookouts, with a break in the square. The walk is free; a drink can cost around €3–8.
Wear shoes with sturdy soles: the village has uphill stretches, steps, and uneven paving.
Alternating a beach with vivid colors with a sheltered bay, cutting down driving time.
09:30
Kokkinokastro Beach
From Patitiri, allow about 15–20 minutes by car, varying with traffic and road conditions. Spend the morning at the beach and take in the contrast between the sea and the reddish rock formations; bring water and sun protection, as natural shade can be limited. Access to the beach is generally free; any services or rentals can cost around €10–30 per person.
For seasonal visits and services, check local information before setting out.
13:30
Chrisi Milia Beach
Continue by car for about 10–15 minutes and set aside at least two hours for this bay, ideal for a longer seaside stop. You can swim, relax on the sand, and have lunch nearby: expect around €12–25 per person for a meal, plus any sun loungers or an umbrella, which may add about €10–25. Beach access may be free, while available services and their prices vary.
If you prefer a packed lunch, buy it in Patitiri and bring a bag to take your rubbish back with you.
Discover the small harbor of Votsi and continue along the coast to the village of Steni Vala.
09:00
Fishing village of Votsi
Reach Votsi from Patitiri in about 5–10 minutes by car or taxi and stroll around the small harbor, watching the boats and houses overlooking the bay. Allow an hour for the visit and a breakfast or coffee, roughly €3–8 per person. Parking along the seafront is free; check parking conditions on site.
Leaving early makes it easier to find a spot in the parking areas.
11:00
Leftos Gialos Beach
From Votsi, continue north by car for about 20–30 minutes, taking into account the winding road and possible delays. Spend two hours at the bay, alternating between a swim and a break in the shade; before stopping, check which facilities are actually available. Access may be free; a light lunch or a drink can cost around €10–25 per person, and any equipment rental is charged separately.
Bring water and beach shoes: the seabed and shoreline conditions can vary.
14:30
Agios Dimitrios Beach
Continue along the coast toward the northeast: allow about 15–25 minutes by car, depending on your starting point and traffic conditions. The beach, recognizable by its long strip of pebbles, invites a stop of about two hours for swimming, photos, and relaxation. No ticket is needed to access the beach; any services or rentals, if available, may cost roughly €10–30.
The pebbles can get hot in the sun: bring beach sandals and suitable protection.
17:30
Steni Vala
End the day by reaching Steni Vala in about 15–25 minutes by car, checking the route and travel time on your local navigation app. Walk along the small seafront promenade and take in the harbor before stopping for dinner; a tavern meal can cost roughly €18–35 per person, depending on dishes and drinks. The stroll is free, and the return to Patitiri usually takes about 25–35 minutes by car.
If you are not driving, arrange your return in advance and check the availability of taxis or local connections.
