La cattedrale unisce elementi gotici e rinascimentali e custodisce la statua della Madonna Consolatrice degli Afflitti, patrona della città. La sua cripta ospita le tombe della famiglia granducale.
Una delle piazze principali della capitale, animata da caffè, mercati ed eventi cittadini. Al centro si trova la statua equestre del granduca Guglielmo II.
Questo imponente ponte in pietra collega la Ville Haute al quartiere della Gare e attraversa la valle della Pétrusse. La sua arcata panoramica è uno dei punti più fotografati della città.

In Lussemburgo autobus, tram e treni sono gratuiti in seconda classe su tutto il territorio nazionale, anche per i visitatori. La gratuità non copre i viaggi oltre confine né i posti in prima classe. Nella capitale, tram e autobus collegano il centro con i quartieri e la stazione, mentre il centro storico si visita comodamente a piedi. Considera che le salite e i dislivelli possono rendere il percorso più impegnativo: ascensori pubblici, come quello del Grund, aiutano a spostarsi tra le diverse zone. Per gli orari, consulta l’app o il sito ufficiale dei trasporti pubblici.
Quando andare
La primavera e l’inizio dell’autunno sono ottimi periodi per visitare il Paese, con temperature generalmente miti e paesaggi piacevoli. L’estate offre giornate lunghe e un calendario vivace, ma può essere più affollata; l’inverno è freddo e le giornate sono brevi. Il meteo è variabile in ogni stagione, quindi porta con te uno strato impermeabile.
Dove mangiare
A Lussemburgo città trovi ristoranti e bistrot con cucina locale e internazionale, soprattutto nel centro storico e nei quartieri di Grund e Clausen. Tra le specialità tradizionali ci sono la judd mat gaardebounen, carne di maiale affumicata con fave, e le bouchées à la reine. Per un pasto informale, cerca panetterie e brasserie; la sera, soprattutto nei locali più richiesti, è consigliabile prenotare.
