One destination.
A thousand ways to live it.
Rhodes enchants with its fortified medieval town, traces of antiquity, and a lively seafront facing the Aegean. Between knightly palaces, cobbled streets, and glimpses of the harbor, every walk reveals centuries of history and the island's sunny charm.
Worth seeing, worth remembering.
This imposing 14th-century fortress dominates the medieval town with its towers and monumental courtyards. Inside, historic rooms and mosaics trace the island's different eras.
This famous cobbled street cuts through the heart of the medieval town and preserves buildings associated with the different “tongues” of the Knights. Its stone façades and intimate atmosphere make it one of the most evocative walks in Rhodes.
Housed in the former Knights' hospital, the museum displays artifacts from Rhodes and the nearby islands. Among its rooms, you can admire sculptures, ceramics, and traces of ancient Greek civilization.
On the heights of Monte Smith lie the remains of the ancient acropolis, including the temple of Apollo, a stadium, and an odeon. The site also offers sweeping views over the city and the sea.
is one of the most recognizable places in Rhodes, with its quays, windmills, and the deer statues at the entrance. It's a pleasant stop for a stroll along the waterfront and to watch the boats coming and going.

How to get around
In Rhodes Town, it’s easy to get around on foot, especially in the Old Town, where the cobbled streets are largely pedestrianized. Buses connect the town with the airport and the island’s main resorts, but frequencies and timetables can vary by season. To explore beaches and villages, a rental car offers greater flexibility; in high season, however, it’s worth factoring in traffic and parking. Always check bus times for the return journey, especially in the evening.
When to go
May, June, September and October are ideal for visiting Rhodes, with pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds than in summer. July and August are very hot and lively, perfect for the beach but less suited to sightseeing in the middle of the day; book accommodation and cars in advance. In spring and autumn, some activities and connections may have reduced hours.
Where to eat
In Rhodes Town you’ll find tavernas and restaurants both in the Old Town and around the harbor; for a quieter atmosphere, look for places in the inland villages. Try Greek specialties such as meze, grilled fish, moussaka and pitaroudia, chickpea fritters typical of the island. In the busiest spots, it’s advisable to book in the evening, especially in high season.
Quick tips
- 01Bring comfortable, non-slip shoes: in the Old Town the streets are often paved and uneven.
- 02In summer, use sunscreen, a hat and water, and plan outdoor visits for the morning or late afternoon.
- 03Check the updated bus schedules: they can change between high and low season.
- 04If you rent a car, check the parking arrangements at your accommodation in advance and be careful on the narrow roads in the villages.
Wake up in the right place.
