Getting around
If you mean Agios Dimitrios on the Pelion, a car is the most practical way to reach the village and the beaches in the area, such as Agios Ioannis and Papa Nero. The roads are scenic but often narrow and winding: drive carefully and allow for travel times longer than those shown on the map. Getting around the center on foot is easy, although some streets are steep. Buses can be infrequent, especially outside the high season; check schedules and connections in advance.
When to go
From May to June and in September, the weather is pleasant and there are fewer visitors than in the height of summer. July and August are ideal for the sea, but the beaches and facilities can be crowded and temperatures higher. In spring and autumn, the Pelion offers green landscapes and conditions suited to walks; in winter, some services may have reduced hours.
Where to eat
Look for the village tavernas and those in nearby centers to taste Pelion dishes, such as meat-based plates, seasonal vegetables, and local specialties. In the coastal towns, you’ll also find seafood and classic Greek cuisine. In high season, it’s wise to book in the evening; outside the season, check first that the place is open.
